Star Gaze during NYE

It’s New Year’s Eve, and that means millions of people around the world will be looking up towards the sky, although this probably won’t be for the constellations or night time activity, but instead for the bright flashes from fireworks.

In my home town in North Devon, we all line the banks of the river, along the quay, to watch the colourful spectacular explode onto the dark canvas that is the night sky.

If the night is clear, a really magical thing to do is to look beyond the fireworks and try and identify the stars that can be seen; this takes me back to my childhood and I have fond memories of star-gazing on this magical night and then identifying them on the poster on my ceiling.

Enjoy your New Year’s Eve night, but look beyond the show, and into the universe, it truly is enchanting.
