One of the benefits of producing great work in astronomy is the recognition you get. every so often a discovery could mean a bit of exposure in the press and when that happens local dignitaries tend to show up and honour us with their presence.
we recently had one such occasion and as ever we needed to make a good impression in order to get the funding we needed to carry on our work. The usual clean up of the place commenced and we where pretty happy with how the place was looking until we came in one morning to discover the coffee machine had taken it upon itself to empty its contents all over the carpet. With one day before the event we were pretty stuck for ideas until Gary discovered some life savers online, click here, long story short they helped us out of a really difficult position and the place was looking great.
Because of the exposure we got in an online journal we are now in discussions with a possile investor and if everything goes to plan they are likely to keep us going for the forseeable future. I am not sure if the carpet made that much of a difference in the long run but you know what they say about first impressions.
